AMD 6

For this AMD I decided to read the Bild tabloid that we had read about in our Kutlur readings for chapter 6. In particular I read an article about a (in the judgement of the Bild) poor call on a German soccer team. The article provided an interesting look into how soccer is behind in replay review compared to other major sports and how most Germans (65%) were in favor of using some replay to help aid referees in ensuring they make the right call. Reading the article was much easier than I anticipated and I would say that I understood the majority of it, although there were a few words and phrasings that I had trouble deciphering. When I encountered these I did my best to use context and the words that I knew in order to figure out their meanings and succeeded in successfully understanding the majority of the article. For the parts that I didn't know I typed in one word into a translator and then tried to piece together the rest of the words/phrase based on that one clue. Overall this helped me to make sense of things much better without just translating everything and getting know educational value from the AMD. Compared to earlier in the semester it is amazing how much more that I am able to understand, even though I haven't even realized that progress that I have made.
