Kultur 6

The reading "Sex, Smut and Shock Bild Zeitung Rules Germany" is quite interesting to me since I did not know that a daily dose of high-resolution soft porn is so welcomed by millions of Germans. And the writers can also make fun of the chancellor of their country, Angela Merkel, which will probably never happen in China. The writers in China are barely allowed to blame the chairman or any other government officials in China, if anyone did so, they might even lose their jobs. The part talks about a bow of a smile of the soccer team trainer and the final part compares the significantly different react of the British Sun to that of Bild. The British press published paparazzi photos of German's Chancellor Merkel's naked derriere while Bild's commentator Franz Josef Wagner emphasized their unwillingness to put that in the front page. And they mentioned about soccers several times, which really reflects their fond in soccer.
"Come On In, My Door Is Always Closed" is even interesting. In German, if you don't knock loudly then you may have to wait outside until the person you are waiting comes out.. This is so upset since I am used to knock very politely to not interrupt people I am coming for. This sample is very similar to a cultural difference of eating noodles in China and Japan. In China, guests should eat very quietly to be polite to the host. However, guests should eat noodles loudly to represent their pleassure and enjoyness of eating at the host's home.

AMD 6

For AMD6, I have watched a video of "Die Simpsons - Auf diese Lisa können sie bauen [Deutsch | Staffel 22 Episode 2 | Part 1]  " in youtube. It is really interesting and talks about the story that Lisa went to a shop and misread the price for a handbag. It is funfhundert euros but Lisa thought that costs funfzig. When she checked out, others are laughing at her since she was shocked by the price and thinking not to buy it. But out of her self-esteem, she gave her card to the check-out lady with a firm hand. Lisa was sorry after she got home but Mr Simpson told her that it's fine and they went to a high-class restuarant. They were badly treated at first but after the waitress saw her handbag they were treated superior to others. And das Baby was playing a game in computer, der Mann sagt, cliken Sie auf meinen Nase! which is letting the baby clicked at his nose and after she clicked on it, der Mann sagt, Wiedersehen!

I looked up Deuglisch in wikipedia.
German-spoken area now keeps absorbing new words directly and some Germanized English words.
For here, German take word reboot and add standard German ending -en to it to make a new verb.
And gecrasht is made to be a perfekt tense of crash, with seine( ist here).
2.Hast du schon die neueste Firefox-Version downgeloadet / gedownloadet?
schon-already, and gedownloadet for download in English.

The Pseudo-anglicisms seems more interesting to me since I will probably make that mistakes by using wrong words.
Smoking[20]dinner suit
I also listened to a song called "Denglisch" produced by a cappella group Wise Guys.
They are totally irrelevant! So if I didn't know this before going to Germany, ''no smoking'' won't remind me with formal dress for a event..And it might happen that everyone is well dressed up except me, who might be wearing jeans as always..

Kultur 5

In the first reading, 'No Blood, No Entschuldigung', the sentence that Germans are inherently rude really surprises me since I was always considering Germans as a polite symbol. The descriptions about how they plow grimly ahead on the way and how they react after stepping on one's feet are really interesing. In the last paragraph, the writer use a sample of being jabbed by a bitter old lady who wants to clear place for his grandson to again, demonstrate the impoliteness of germans.
Besides, the sex shop culture is really impressive since Germans are even more open to the sex shop. The author says sex shops are located all over the Germany, and the location of sex shops are not restricted to be away from a respectable institution like church. But the traditional opening hours are really inconvenient and one might have to wait until week days to shop.
It's good to know that I need to bring plenty of coins with me when go to the toilet in Germany. Since the Klofrau is paid poorly and the earning from toilet attendents takes a large part of their earning, coins are significant to them. And too much or too little is no good, 30-50 cents are appropriate.

In the second reading, I would be really caught into an embarrasing situation if  I bought a wrong ticket for the wrong train... I would never understand why their logic is so unusual. How come people would tell you to buy a ticket for a wrong train? That's really confusing! Wish I would ask enough information before I do everything so that I won't get stuck in those awkward situations.

In the third reading :There's No Such Thing as a Free Ride", it's good to know that we soll nicht assume to be able to abuse Teutonic trust in German. Although there's a so-called honor system in Berlin and most cities in Germany, you will be caught if they found that you were out of ticket or even not a right ticket. They might take you as performing Schwarzfahren and charge you penalties (€40) or even heavier. That's not a small amount money for anyone! And the author must have tried to explain but failed since he wrote in the passage that we soll nicht think about acting like an innocent foreigner to avoid penalties, because people in Germany are not likely to accept excuses.

I was trying to learn the German culture through the Internet. At first I was considering to watch a movie or listen to music but I really get tired of that. I came up with the idea of knowing what kind of jokes they have and they'd love to say. After I looked up from the websites, I have the following jokes which I think they are fitting my laughing point! Wish they could bring you some happiness too!

I can see how much Germans love biers!!

AMD3

For the third AMD, I was thinking to watch a German Movie but it seemed not very interesting cuz I would focus more on the content of the movie instead of learning the language itself. So I decide to analyze a lyric word by word, sentence by sentence. I keep listening to different Deutsch songs but <Das Beste> is my Lieblingsongs by now. And I suddenly realize that many words seem familiar now!
<Das Beste>
Ich habe einen Schatz gefunden,     precious!
und er trägt deinen Namen.            wear
So wunderschön und wertvoll,       very beautiful
Vergess den Rest der Welt,       forget the rest thing in the world
wenn du bei mir bist!                when you stay by my side

I have searched for the Deutsch Spongebob but es gibt nür videos mit kein "subtitles".
Could you send me a link if you have any great episode in Deutsch with subtitles so that I could watch a short one every day! :)

Danke!

Kapital 3-Kultur-Texte

The readings are presenting the eating and drinking habits of th Germans. I really like the sentences how it describes Germans waddling around with a glass of beer. Only after I read the articles, have I realized how much Germans love beers. They take it nearly as a substitution of Wasser. The first article also mentioned how FIFA attrats Germans but also gives a wrong information to visitors that es gibt merely a couple of beers in Germany. Honestly, I don't like the feeling with hangover so my favorite beer must be Kölsch. However it is risky as well since it is usually served in small size cups, which, to some extent, is encouraging people to drink more by substituting cups more frequently.
And I really like the fourth article which is talking about "fast food culture" of the Germans. I would love to try Bratwurst if I go to Germany for World Cups. Pommes looks interesting to me. It's equivalent to the fries in U.S. But no Essig is offered and we pay for the ketchup and mayonnaise if we want, which is quite different from here. I would love to try Zigeuner Schnitzel und Spätzle too. It makes me feel hungry to read these articles in the morning.
From the article "Official! World's funniest joke", I did not get it why people would rate "very funny" for the joke in the beginning...But the Europeans do laugh for this joke? It's sound understandable when the article claims that they more enjoy jokes with serious topics such as death... I think I should go there at least once to see how different their "laugh points" are from mine. :)

Ich höre Musik in Deutsch am Wochenende.
Ich finde ein Weihnachtslied although Chritsmas is two months away from now. It's called "Schnuffels Weihnachtslied". Since it was sung by kids, the song sounds very sweet and is full of happiness. I think it might be a good way to learn German by listening to the songs sung by kids cuz they pronounce clearly.

Part of the lyrics are
"Ich bin happy, wenn Du an mich denkst
Ich hab für Dich ein ganz tolles Geschenk
Und ich zünde eine Kerze an
Und dann wart' ich auf den Weihnachtsmann "
I could  feel the excitement that kids have, waiting for the Santa Claus!

The second song I recommend is "Das Beste" from Silbermond. Very different from the first one. This song is somewhat moving cuz the singer is singing to express her gratefulness for her lover. My favorite sentence is: Du bist das Beste was mir je pasisert ist, es tut so gut wie du mich liebst! It's been so exciting to listen to the German songs and I was so surprised when I found so many words that I've learnt!!

Kapitel 2 Kultur

I am really not a right person to hear complaints and moaning. I was barely a listener to my not very close friends. Everytime they started complaining, I will just make an excuse and leave. Since I feel that when I complain to others, I am spreading my pains and forcing them to share with annoyance, which I have no right to do. But I think it's time for me to make a change since I want to go to Germany! In the first reading "Whining, Bitching and Moaning", the author says that the Germans are "very happy" to complain about things like economy and football teams even though they don't have any real reason to do that. People living there are mostly covered by health insurance and they have a four-to-eight paid vacation every year, which is a way-better and easier life compared to most other countries.  I might study a bit harder to make sure to get ready to understand what people in the subway are complaining about before I go. And I would try to get used to the staring by elders from a window I passed by although it might be tough. Being stared by people is always a super awkward thing!
As for their habit of using statistics, it sounds perfect to me! I am studying statistics so I might have some common sense with Germans hopefully. It might scare them if I tell them that there are over a thousand and four hundred million people in my hometown, Shenzhen. I would love to see how surprised when they hear that! And I won't go there before I collected  enough data about the size and our polical system etc.

Got to study harder to get ready to my jouney in Germany!

AMD 1

Wie ist deine Wochenende? Ich habe ein wundervolles Wochenende.
Ich sehe ein alt italienischer Film called "life is beautiful".

I will give it 9.5 if there's a scale from 0-10. Their love and their desire for protecting their families are so moving.

Gute nacht!
