For my kulture vier assignment i read the article 'Two wheeled Teutons'. This article was interesting to me because i was not aware just how much Germans enjoy their cycling and how temperamental they get when someone disregards the sacred 'bike lane' code! I personally think these bike lanes are a great idea as firstly they allow and encourage people to get on their bikes and get exercise that they wouldn't otherwise be getting had they have been driving their cars, and secondly they are a great way of reducing carbon emissions. I particularly like the idea that when in a major cities such as Munich, Berlin, or Frankfurt, you can simply dial the appropriately named 'call a bike' number, enter a few details and have almost instant access to two wheeled bliss!
